Three-what? We know, it's not a name you see every day, but allow us to explain:
Pronounced three-eye, our founder chose the name both for its association with bees and her own name - Melissa, which means honey bee in Greek. A fan of etymology, Mel believes that names bring with them the energy their meanings are associated with.
In Greek mythology, the *Thriae* were a triad of nymphs associated with bees and honey. They were believed to possess prophetic powers and were often depicted as the guardians of bees, or as women with the ability to communicate with them. The Thriae were sometimes said to have the ability to interpret the "buzz" of bees, linking them to the idea of wisdom and insight, as honey was often seen as a symbol of divine knowledge and immortality.
In modern times, bees continue to hold a special place in our culture. They’re not just important for pollination and producing honey; they also symbolize community, hard work, and cooperation. Thriae’s connection to bees reminds us of how ancient cultures revered these creatures for their mystical and practical significance—just as we do today, recognizing their vital role in nature and even drawing inspiration from them in art and symbolism. The way bees "speak" through their buzzing, like the Thriae, continues to remind us of the deeper mysteries and wisdom of the natural world.
Thriae as a business is as a representation of this cooperation and collective energy. We are happy to have you here as a part of it.
