Thrie Handmade Limited Edition Style

The Laodecia is special: utilizing variable color threads the consistency of a thin yarn, this peshtemal is hand-woven by master weavers with ancient expertise. Each piece produced is unique, with textural and color variations that only a hand-loomed textile can display. It is the perfect length and width for a scarf or shawl and will be your new cool-weather accessory. It is also the perfect gift: a one-of-a-kind piece, made with love, using the same techniques that have been around for thousands of years.

Made from 100% hand-loomed Turkish cotton in the inner Aegean town of Buldan, known as the birthplace of textile looming in Turkiye. Note that the designs for each colorway represented here are approximations and that each piece is unique. Please embrace any variations in size or weaving as a unique quality of your handmade piece.

Approximately 29 x 68 inches - the perfect size for a scarf and weighs about 10 oz.
About Laodecia:
Laodicea was an ancient city located in southwestern Turkiye. Founded in the Hellenistic period by Antiochus II of the Seleucid Empire, it was named after his wife, Laodice. The city prospered during the Roman Empire due to its strategic location along major trade routes and its famous wool production, particularly black wool. Laodicea became known for its wealth, thriving economy, and impressive architectural achievements, including theaters, temples, and baths. It also played an important role in early Christianity, being one of the seven churches mentioned in the Book of Revelation. The city eventually declined due to earthquakes and other factors, and its ruins remain an important archaeological site today. Laodecia is located in the same area as our Thriae Handmade atelier in the town of Buldan. Buldan is said to be the birthplace of textile weaving in Turkiye and is still a textile center today.
Your peshtemal is pre-washed right out of the package, but we always recommend a cycle through the machine. Note this style can start off with a bit or a rough texture due to the yarn used in its looming, but will soften with washing and use.

Wash as with any other cotton textile:
Machine wash warm
Tumble dry low
Line dry is recommended for this style
Warm iron if desired
The Laodecia has replaced all of our scarves. With its timeless yet modern colorways, it is the perfect accessory to keep you warm and cozy this winter.
